The Vox Conference Centre appoints new Head Chef

The Vox Conference Centre, part of the NEC Group, is delighted to announce the appointment of Head Chef Aaron Johnson.

In his new role Aaron will be responsible for the quality of the Vox catering and developing new and exciting bespoke menus for individual clients. 

Aaron will be leading the team who will be preparing and delivering food excellence across a range of events from small meetings to banquets for over 800 guests at the new conference centre situated within Resorts World Birmingham. 

Speaking of his new challenge, Aaron said, “As the Vox establishes its reputation as a conference centre of choice, I'm looking forward to contributing to and developing the business. We're at the start of a very exciting journey, evolving and adapting to our clients as we deliver world class food for their events.”

He added, “The next few months will be really exciting, and as with any new role a little daunting - it's no small task delivering food to over 800 guests at any one time, and in a new conference centre where people will have high expectations of quality.”

Aaron has been instrumental in the development of the menu at the Vox, alongside Executive Head Chef Simon Hellier of sister venue the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham. Aaron previously worked as Chef then Deputy Head Chef before he was handpicked by Simon for his new role.

Simon explains, “Aaron was chosen for the role, not just because he fitted the job but because of his creativity and innovation, but his ability to lead from the front and motivate a team. These skills are essential to being a good chef as the need for consistent high standards is essential. Aaron has demonstrated these qualities steadily whilst working at the ICC. He always puts the customers’ needs and requirements first with a positive attitude. It is also a great opportunity for Aaron’s development.”

Aaron agrees and is excited to progress in his new role following the successful launch of the Vox in September, saying “I'm excited to be leading a fantastic team, who are all committed to delivering culinary excellence by producing outstanding food and for me personally, it is a great opportunity. As with any new role it will be a challenge but with the support of the team I am confident that we will ensure the Vox is well and truly on the map.”
