Paul Thandi CBE, DL to step down as Chairman

NEC Group, the UK’s leading live events business, today announced that Paul Thandi CBE, DL, is to step down as Chairman in the new year.

Melanie Smith CBE, Chief Executive Officer, NEC Group said: "The NEC Group is a thriving, growing business, due to Paul’s terrific leadership since he took the helm in 2006.

“Paul has made a hugely important contribution to the growth of the NEC Group, including successfully navigating the challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. On behalf of our colleagues, and the Board, I would like to thank Paul and wish him all the best for the future.

“I am excited for what is to come and look forward to building on the success that has been created over the past decades.”

Paul Thandi, outgoing Chair commented: “We have a strong leadership team in place, the NEC Group business and its sites have undergone a successful transformation over the years and now is the right time to step down.

"It has been an absolute privilege to lead the NEC Group and more recently in the position of Chair, and I am extremely proud of all we have achieved and delivered. I have complete confidence in Melanie to lead the Group successfully forward.
