As the Apprenticeships Coordinator, Angela is responsible for encouraging young people to pursue a career in live events. She is dedicated to raising awareness in the local community of the career opportunities available to them. Angela represents the NEC Group on the Cornerstone Employer Group, which gives strategic support to the Birmingham Careers Hub to empower inclusive careers provision in the region. Her work as an Enterprise Adviser involves developing a strategic plan to ensure every young person receives meaningful employer encounters and workplace experiences.
Angela, in collaboration with Michelle Baldwin, NEC Head of Events, also designed a project which NEC Group piloted with Cockshut Hill School, offering young people the chance to plan a mock live event, providing them with a taste of the skills needed to follow a career in the live events industry.
Commenting on her award win, Angela said: “I’m honoured to be recognised by Birmingham Careers Hub with an Outstanding Contribution award, highlighting my commitment to bridging the gap between the world of work and education for young people locally.
“The NEC Group is proud to play an active role in the Cornerstone Employer Group, working together with other local businesses to inspire young people and raise their career aspirations. Through our work with Birmingham Careers Hub and other programmes, we are focused on preparing young people in our region for a successful future.”
Gerry Keogh, Enterprise Coordinator at Birmingham Education Partnership, comments: “With a complex, fast-changing labour market, the need for high-quality work experiences and links to employers has never been greater.
