First UK edition of Automechanika to launch at the NEC

03 June 2015

The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) has been named as the host of the first ever UK edition of Automechanika – the world’s leading international automotive trade fair brand.

The UK’s number one exhibition centre successfully bid for the three year contract and will host the first Automechanika Birmingham from 7 to 9 June 2016.

The Birmingham edition adds to an already impressive portfolio of international events for show producers, Messe Frankfurt; the Automechanika brand now boasts a network of 15 events in 14 countries. Automechanika Birmingham will play host to around 250 exhibitors and an expected 5,000 trade visitors in its first outing.

Michael Johannes, Vice President of Messe Frankfurt and Brand Manager of Automechanika commented: “The market in the UK is strong and is predicted to continue to grow over the next five years. Given that there is no national domestic event in this space currently, we feel we can bring the brand, the experience and the market knowledge to deliver value to exhibitor and visitors. Around half of the UK’s automotive manufacturing industry is based in the Midlands so Birmingham’s NEC was the ideal location for our UK launch.”

Richard Mann, the NEC’s Market Development Director, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as the hosts of the first ever Automechanika in the UK. This is a huge international show which has really ambitious growth plans and we are looking forward to working with the organisers to help them to exceed their targets. Our location in the heart of the country coupled with our unrivalled connectivity by road, rail and air means that we will be able to reach a national and international audience, which we are confident will result in an extremely successful launch show.

Automechanika Birmingham will focus on the automotive aftermarket and its supply chain, bringing together exhibitors who will showcase a variety of product groups including, Parts and Components and Repair and Maintenance.
