WHY LOCATION MATTERS

Birmingham’s dynamicity, creativity and connectivity help attract over 34 million visitors each year, while its ability to evolve means it never stands still, offering something for everyone.

Birmingham is now emerging as a world city and has been ranked the UK’s most popular destination outside London for corporate conferences and events. It is also the most investable city in the UK.

To make the most of what it has to offer, the NEC Group is working with Birmingham City Council to create a vision for the future of the NEC site, building on the opening of Resorts World Birmingham in October 2015.

Resorts World marked the start of a new, ground-breaking era for the NEC Group and the Midlands as a whole. It brings an estimated three million additional visitors per year to businesses based on the NEC site alone, adding to the three million already welcomed annually.

Resorts World comprises a four-star boutique hotel and Asian-themed Santai Spa; a casino offering a contemporary and exciting gaming experience; an outlet shopping centre with 50 units; an 11-screen IMAX cinema operated by Cineworld; a multi-use banqueting and conferencing facility the Vox catering for up to 900 delegates (managed by the NEC Group’s ICC team); and 18 restaurants and bars offering a wide range of food and beverage experiences.

The NEC site masterplan will extend existing uses of the site, creating a 24/7 destination of international significance. The plans will build on the fantastic connectivity the site already benefits from by road, rail and air, and will capitalise on the planned improvements to that connectivity, in particular through the High Speed 2 rail station that will be built on land adjacent to the site.
