Destination Birmingham...

Birmingham is a city on the move. Few destinations in the UK are undergoing more rapid and ambitious change, and the limelight is very quickly turning to the Birmingham-scene.

You don’t have to look far or for long in Birmingham to be inspired; from the pin-cushioned Selfridges facade and the ‘Bull-in-the-Bullring’, representing the city’s place as one of the biggest shopping destination in Europe; to the iconic Library, bringing into relief the knowledge economy that is growing all over the city, from Universities to R&D centres. Birmingham has its fair share of icons.

But it’s also worth the reminder that this is a city built on top of a rich heritage; from the global cultures that flooded into the city in the first part of the 20th century, to the musical and literary influences of heavy metal and J.R.R Tolkien, to the household brands - Birds Custard to Cadbury Chocolate. The Peaky Blinder phenomenon of the twenty-tens was built over a heritage of industrial development, cultural integration, civil strife, poverty, success and personality; then laid dormant until the city reinvented itself one again, this time as a centre for global media production.

In the meantime, the city spawned the birth of heavy metal, The Lord of the Rings, and Dairy Milk. Whilst it’s also the home of five universities, leading medical, research and development centres, a centre of manufacturing excellence, it also claims more canals than Venice and is the best spot in the country for a Balti or a Daal!

Birmingham seems to reinvent itself at tumble dryer speed, churning creativity and ideas with business intelligence, and adding the warm welcome and openness of the Brummie hosts. It’s no wonder its business tourism product is developing at such brake-neck speed. From the NEC to the ICC, from the Custard Factory to the eastside rooms, Birmingham has gone from hosting large scale national occasions, to global conferences, meetings and events over a 50+ year period.

For decades Birmingham has been the national centre of events and watched as hundreds of businesses and professionals moved into the region. Some of the most dynamic creative agencies in the country sit next to global travel and meetings businesses. Production specialists, caterers, venues and entertainment brands have been born in Birmingham and exported their skills around the world.

The one thing it hasn’t got though is its very own, tailor made, meeting, hospitality and events industry exhibition; until now.

Here at CHS Group we are creating a new show for the events industry, right here in Birmingham, and we’re doing it by using the very best talent, creativity and inspiration from the city. This is an event for the city, by the city!

It's created by us and is part of our ambition to ‘be of service’ to these many event professionals, and equally as many businesses, keen to meet and do business in a relaxed, informative and interesting environment. It’s an amazing opportunity for our business and a great one for the city, it’s going to be brilliant, and we want everyone to be a part of it.

CHS Birmingham is a one day exhibition taking place in the Birmingham ICC, and we’re looking to spread the word across the city and Midlands, to bring together the events and hospitality community, and give them a show they will be proud of.  The show takes place on Tuesday 27th October 2020 and we hope you can join us!

Centenary Square, Birmingham, by night.
